Painting the racecar: Kirk was very interested in learning how to do all the body work and prep work in order to paint the car himself. With the coaching of his friend and co-worker Walt Imhof, he undertook the big project and painted his first car. After all the body work was done, the car was primed with a urethane primer. The next Big Step: After the urethane primer was sprayed, kirk then proceeded to spray on the gold base. The jams were painted first. Of course he also had to have a matching helmet. The Color: After the gold base was applied he painted five coats of "House of Kolor Kandy Tangerine" followed by three coats of Dupont clear.
